If a child is showing any ill effects of poisoning, no matter how slight, call 911 immediately.

If no ill effects are noticed, call the Poison Control Center at:


This will provide access to a local poison control center no matter where you are at in the United States. Treatment should not be started unless on the advice of the poison control center or physician.

Vomiting is rarely recommended, but the use of activated charcoal may be. This product can be obtained over the counter at a drug store.

When you call poison control you need to know the childs’ age, approximate weight and what the poison is if you know.
